November 12, 2023
In the past week D2N, HAPSA Nepal and BlinkNow have supplied food, tents, warm blankets and clothes, and other supplies to more than 400 families and are in the midst of providing 250 tarps, 250 bags of rice, 650 blankets, dry food items, cooking support, womens' shawls, and enough clothing for about 500 children, moms and babies, emergency medical kits and menstrual hygiene supplies. BlinkNow has also sent teams of volunteer doctors, nurses, counselors, social workers. Supplies are brought in by trucks supplied by D2N, the injured are brought back to Surkhet in an ambulance supplied by D2N.
On November 3, 2023 a powerful earthquake struck Western Nepal. Although the area is nowhere near Khotang, because of contacts and resources developed over the past 13 years, D2N is in a position to provide expeditious relief. We will be partnering with HAPSA, non-profit organization that has been working to strengthen health system in Nepal and BlinkNow Foundation, a non-profit already working in Western Nepal, to provide warm meals, a safe drinking water station, blankets, temporary shelters and other necessary items to help residents in Jajarkot get through the next few days and until longer term solutions can be found.
